Alberta is once again leading Canada’s economy, accounting for nearly half of the entire country’s job gains in June. This is what happens when a province has strong leadership, low taxes, and a government that gets out of the way and lets Albertans get to work. Read more.

A landmark deal with Canada’s five biggest oilsands producers will unlock a new era of energy investment in Alberta, ramping up production to help fill the new West Coast pipeline while attracting tens of billions in new investment and creating up to 40,000 jobs across the country. A new Angus Reid Institute poll shows Canadians are firmly on side with Premier Smith ‘s pipeline vision, with 63 per cent supporting the West Coast pipeline including 62 per cent in British Columbia, and 55 per cent already backing the just-announced Alberta to Ontario corridor. The economic argument is winning, with majorities pointing to the importance of diversifying Canada’s oil markets as the most compelling reason to build. Read more.

A new Business Council of Alberta survey finds Alberta business leaders are more optimistic than anywhere else in Canada, with 65 per cent expecting economic conditions to improve over the next 12 months, half planning to add staff, and 55 per cent planning to increase capital investment. The survey credits the significant number of major project announcements and growing opportunities in the energy sector, a direct result of our government’s work to cut red tape, keep taxes low, and fight for Alberta’s economy. South Korea’s appetite for Alberta crude has quadrupled since the war in Iran shut down Persian Gulf shipping lanes, and industry analysts say this isn’t a temporary fix. South Korean refiners are becoming structurally dependent on Canada’s specific grade of oil in a way that is likely to reshape trade flows for years to come. Read more.

Children and Family Services Minister Searle Turton announced a $16 million investment to expand support services for victims of family violence across Alberta, building on the previously announced $62 million committed to family violence initiatives. The new funding will support regional collaboration, operational needs, and facility upgrades at shelters, giving agencies the flexibility to offer survivors a wider range of options beyond the traditional shelter model no matter where they live in the province. Rick Bell writes in the Calgary Sun this week about how Naheed Nenshi publicly grovelled to anti-Semitic fanatics who pressured him to apologize for having his photo taken with the Israeli ambassador at the Stampede. Bell pulls no punches, saying Nenshi is missing a spine, some guts, and the judgment needed to lead, and that the radicals who pushed him around are right at home in today’s NDP. Read more.

Far-left environmental groups are mounting an aggressive campaign to block data centre construction across North America, openly admitting they are dusting off the same playbook they used against pipelines and fracking to kill investment and shut down development. One organizer even boasted it is easier to mobilize communities to block something than it is to build something, which tells you everything you need to know about what these groups are really after. Technology and Innovation Minister Nate Glubish has written a must-read column explaining why the world’s biggest tech companies are lining up to build AI data centres in Alberta and what it means for every family in the province. Glubish makes the case that data centres are Alberta’s digital refineries, turning our natural gas into electricity, electricity into computing power, and computing power into made-in-Alberta intelligence exported to the world through fibre optic cables.
