| Assisted Living and Social Services Minister Jason Nixon shared great news this week that housing construction has hit a historic high. Builders broke ground on more than 53,000 new homes in 2025 which shattered the previous record by 14%. This massive effort means Alberta is now building nearly a quarter of all new homes in Canada despite having only 12% of the population. Read more. |

Alberta rental rates fell nearly twice the national average in 2025 because we cleared the way for builders to get to work. The NDP continues to demand rent controls which history shows only leads to housing shortages.
