A massive $4.6-billion power station northeast of Edmonton has received the green light, with Pembina Pipeline, Morgan Stanley, and Kineticor teaming up to build a 932-megawatt facility expected to be operational by 2030 and serve a major data centre customer. The Alberta Energy Rebate portal is now open, and eligible Albertans can apply to receive $100 directly to their bank account, with payments arriving by e-transfer within 14 days of applying. Rather than cutting the gas tax and hoping stations pass the savings along, our government is taking the higher oil revenues and putting that money directly back in your hands, delivering 50 per cent more savings on average than fuel tax relief would have provided. Nearly 3.4 million Albertans can apply to spend the money on groceries, utilities, fuel, or whatever their family needs most, and those receiving AISH, ADAP, Income Support, and the Alberta Seniors Benefit will be enrolled automatically.
